John R. Lucy, PhD
Helping individuals find vitality, connection, vision, and greater meaning for their lives.
I became interested in career coaching in 2008 when I formed my private practice. Often our passions spring out of personal struggles. Finding my career path involved many twists and turns which I now draw upon as I coach others. I took the Highlands Ability Battery during one of my turning points and found it so helpful that I sought training to become certified to administer it to others.
My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in business administration and graduate study in theology (M.A.) and clinical psychology (Ph.D.). I was licensed to practice as a psychologist in 1995 (GA License 1911) after completing my pre- and post-doctoral training in medical centers providing both outpatient and inpatient care and consultation services as a psychologist in the U.S. Navy. My private practice (Decatur Psychology, LLC) was formed in 2008 after a 13-year career working in higher education directing college counseling centers at Oxford College of Emory University and Agnes Scott College, where I also worked as an associate dean of students. I have taught and supervised both undergraduate and graduate students. I am a member of the Georgia Psychological Association. Link to resume.
